VBUK Header Status

This header table consists of a document number and many status fields. VBUK holds all types of SD documents. Sales orders, delivery orders, goods issue documents, and purchase orders are all stored in this table. The status fields are keys to where the document stands from a processing standpoint. Delivery status, goods movement status, and picking status can all be found here. It is a good place to start a report selection if you can limit your selection to one or two types of documents.

VBUP Item Status

This item table shows the status of each line item on a document. For example, when VBUK shows that a sales order has been partially delivered, VBUP will show which line items on the sales order have been fully, partially, or not delivered. VBUP is an excellent table to reduce IO time by grabbing only the line items you need from information held in the status fields.

VBAK Header Details

VBAK is the header detail table. It contains such fields as document date, order type, delivery block, billing block, sales organization, sales group, sales office, and sold-to party for the entire document. This table is where many of your select-options may be checked for the correct value or range.

VBAP Item Details

Line item information is found in this table. For every line item in a document you can grab details like the material number, product hierarchy, order quantity, plant, storage location, shipping point, and net price. This table is also where you can find the higher level item of the item you are currently looking into. This field (uepos) is invaluable when checking for configurable and component level items.

VBFA Document Flow

This table is the document flow table for all SD documents. Its key consists of 5 fields: vbelv - preceding document number, posnv - preceding document line item, vbeln - subsequent document number, posnn - subsequent document line item, and vbtyp_n which contains the document category flag. It is very difficult to get all 5 fields to do a select single on VBFA. The table is mainly used to find the subsequent documents for a given sales document. For example, hitting VBFA with a sales order number, line item, and a document category type allows you to grab all deliveries (vbtyp_n = J) for that particular sales order and line item. This table connects every sales document to its numerous subsequent documents and is therefore very large. Always select on VBFA with as many fields as you have available, but at the very least you need a preceding document number, line item, and document category. Failure to meet this criteria can result in unnecessarily long runtimes.

For example, this is a search on SD documents 10010022-10010025:

VBPA Partner Details

VBPA is the table where all partner information is stored. By selecting on VBPA with a sales document, line item, and partner function code (for example, the field parvw = ‘WE’ for the ship-to partner and ‘SP’ for the carrying partner) the address, phone number, and other relevant information for the party you are looking for can be found.

VBEP Schedule Line Details

This table contains schedule line information for each sales document line item. Schedule lines contain data such as ordered quantity, confirmed quantity, and delivered quantity. For each line item on a sales document, there is at least one schedule line. Multiple schedule lines come into play when an order can only be partially confirmed or partially delivered. The schedule lines keep track of all the dates and quantities for that line item that are acted upon until the order is closed. The key for VBEP is the sales document number, the line item, and the schedule line field(etenr).

VBKD Business Data Details

The business data details table contains such fields as the payment terms, fiscal year, fiscal period, and incoterms. VBKD also contains the field fplnr which signals the user that there is a billing plan in existence for that line item. With the billing plan number one can hit table FPLT and get all billing plan information for that item.

VBAKUK

Both of these tables are views of the two tables VBAK and VBUK. The views combine header detail and header status information. However, not all fields from each table are included in the views. VBAKUK was created by SAP to reduce program runtimes.

VBAPUP

These tables have the same story as VBAKUK. The only difference is that they contain item details and item status information instead of header information.
